The Lineup Generator

DraftKings Lineup Optimizer for NFL and MLB

Build DraftKings lineups for the NFL and MLB contests you enter with your own money, then download a file you upload straight back to DraftKings.

The Lineup Generator builds lineups for the DraftKings contests you enter with your own money, then hands you a file you upload straight back to DraftKings. You keep entering your contests the way you always have. The Generator does the part that eats an evening: filling every entry with a lineup under the salary cap, ready to go.

What the DraftKings optimizer covers

It builds for DraftKings Classic, where a lineup is drawn from a full slate of games, and for Showdown, where it is drawn from a single game. It runs for NFL and MLB, on whichever slates we publish that day. Our projections are already part of the tool, so there is no projection spreadsheet to track down and nothing to upload but your own entries file.

Everything you build is for contests you enter yourself, on your own DraftKings account. The Generator never signs in for you and never submits an entry. You upload the finished file where you entered, and nothing is entered on your behalf.

Up to 150 lineups in one pass

DraftKings lets you enter the same contest more than once, and a large tournament can take a hundred and fifty entries. Doing that by hand is slow and easy to get wrong: a salary typed in twice, a flex slot left empty, a player who locked an hour ago. The Generator builds the whole set at once, up to 150 lineups, and each one becomes its own filled entry in the file you send back.

  • Lock a player you want in every lineup, or ban one you want in none.
  • Set an exposure cap so no single player lands in too many of your lineups, and a floor so a player you like is never left out of the set.
  • Turn on stacking to keep certain players together across a lineup.
  • Swap any player on a finished lineup, by hand, before you download the file.
  • Read why each lineup was picked, one lineup at a time.

Every setting ships with a sensible default, so you can build a full set without touching a single dial, then go back and tighten only the ones you care about.

Download, build, upload

The round trip is three steps, and it starts and ends on DraftKings.

  • On DraftKings, enter your contests as usual, then download your entries file.
  • Drop that file into the Generator and build. Every entry comes back with its own lineup.
  • Download the finished file and upload it on the same DraftKings page. Every entry fills at once.

There is a short walkthrough on the site, one minute and fifty seconds long, that shows the whole thing from reserving your entries to uploading the finished file. If you would rather read than watch, the same three steps are written out under How it works.

New to any of this? The Learn hub explains the salary cap, stacking and exposure in plain words, and uploading lineups to DraftKings walks through the entries file on its own.

Common questions

Does this work with DraftKings Showdown?

Yes. It builds DraftKings Classic lineups from a full slate and Showdown lineups from a single game, for NFL and MLB.

How many lineups can I build at once?

Up to 150, each one filling its own entry in the file you upload back to DraftKings.

Do I need to upload my own projections?

No. The projections are built in, so there is nothing to upload but your entries file, and nothing to download but the finished one.

Will it enter my contests for me?

No. The Generator never touches your DraftKings account. You enter your contests yourself and upload the finished file where you entered.
